3D Scanning for artisan designs

How can 3D scanning be used to help bespoke artisan designs?

3D scanning allows us to capture detail and convert it into a digital format, to an accuracy smaller than the width of a human hair.

This comes into it's own for the bespoke packaging of artisan products such as luxury confectionary that is moulded, very often from a one off master form or pilot tool.

These master tools are usually created without any computer aided design (CAD) making them very difficult to recreate, posing a challenge when it comes to packaging.

This is where 3D scanning come into it's own, we can provide a digital model of any hand made or one off object to be used in modern computer aided design for manufacturing methods.

This means in the case of the artisan confectionary, injection moulding tooling could be created using CNC machining methods to produce packaging that fits perfectly. Offering un-paralleled protection and allowing the packaging to become part of the aesthetically pleasing draw from the artisan product, that will cause it to stand out from the crowd.

The 3D CAD model also offers long term design protection, in the event of the master tooling being damaged it can be replicated with an exact replacement meaning continuity can be kept between batches.
